✋ Before you Start
🤔 Not sure if Broadcasts are available to you? Ask your CSM if this is included in your current product package or reach out via support@edume.com.
📣 What are Broadcasts?
Broadcasts let you send messages directly to your users — no need for separate email blasts, SMS tools, or leadership cascades. Use Broadcasts to share company announcements, operational updates, policy changes, or quick calls-to-action with your whole organisation or just specific teams.
Each Broadcast can include:
- A title
- Rich text content (bold, italics, underline, and bulleted or numbered lists)
- Images, videos, and GIFs
Teams are notified through your existing eduMe delivery channels (SMS, Email, or WhatsApp) and can view Broadcasts sent to them in the user experience.
Best practice
- Keep messages short and focused on a single update or action.
- Use an image or video where it adds context — visual messages drive higher engagement.
- Write a clear, specific title so users know why the message matters before they open it.
- Target the right teams rather than sending everything to everyone.
- Only send Broadcasts to your team during their working hours.
👨💻 Creating a Broadcast
Broadcasts can be created by admins with Lead permissions as well as Line Managers. If you can't see the Broadcasts tab, contact your organisation's eduMe owner or support@edume.com to check your permission level.
- Navigate to the Broadcasts tab in the admin panel.
- Click + Create message.
- Add a Title for your message (required).
- Add a Body (optional). Use the formatting toolbar for bold, italics, underline, and bulleted or numbered lists.
- Add Media (optional) — drag and drop a file, or click Add media to upload an image or video.
- Click Next to select your audience.
You can click Save draft at any point in the flow to finish your message later.
👥 Selecting your audience
Choose which teams or users you would like to receive your Broadcast:
- Team — search and select one or more teams, or use Select all to target everyone.
- Users — select specific individual users.
Once you've made your selection, click Next.
✉️ Choosing a delivery method
By default, notifications for your Broadcast follow your company's delivery preferences, using the first available method in your list — SMS, Email, or WhatsApp. You can review these under Notification settings.
To override your company's delivery preferences for this Broadcast only, switch on the Custom delivery toggle and choose SMS, Email, or WhatsApp.
Custom delivery message
You can customise the notification text users receive. A link to the Broadcast is automatically added to the end of the message. Click AI summary to automatically generate a delivery message based on your Broadcast content, or write your own.
Click Next when you're happy with your delivery settings.
🕑 Sending now or scheduling for later
Choose when to send your Broadcast:
- Send now — your Broadcast is delivered to your selected audience immediately. Click Send to confirm.
- Schedule for later — pick a date and time (UTC) using the calendar, then click Schedule.
Please note you should only send reminders to your team during their working hours.
Once a Broadcast has been sent, it can't be edited — double-check your content, audience, and delivery settings before sending.
💾 Saving drafts
Click Save draft at any step to save your progress. Drafts appear in your Broadcasts list, where you can reopen and edit them before sending.
🗣️ How Users receive Broadcasts
When you send a Broadcast:
- Users receive a notification via your chosen delivery channel (SMS, Email, or WhatsApp) containing your delivery message and a direct link to the Broadcast.
- The link takes the user straight to the specific Broadcast in their eduMe account — no searching required.
- Users can view all Broadcasts sent to them in a dedicated Broadcasts area of their eduMe account.
📈 Tracking engagement
Broadcast engagement is tracked from the moment you send:
- Opens — when a user opens a Broadcast.
- Completions — when a user finishes viewing a Broadcast.
Use these metrics to measure the reach of your messages and identify teams that may need a follow-up.
