Integrating with OpenSesame
Learn how to set up the eduMe-OpenSesame integration to sync learning content, deliver courses, and manage SCORM training with step-by-step guidance.
Before you begin
To set up the integration, you'll need:
- An active OpenSesame subscription with administrator access.
- An eduMe instance.
- Access to your OpenSesame Customer Success Manager (CSM) or Account Executive, who can initiate the integration process.
Note: If you're testing the integration in a pre-production eduMe environment, you'll need to repeat the setup process for your production environment.
How the integration works
Setting up the integration involves four steps:
- OpenSesame generates your Customer Integration ID (CIID).
- The eduMe team enables the integration.
- You send courses from OpenSesame.
- Courses are automatically imported into eduMe.
Step 1: OpenSesame provides your Customer Integration ID
After your OpenSesame licences become active, the OpenSesame Implementations team:
- Creates a unique Customer Integration ID (CIID).
- Sends the CIID directly to the eduMe team.
- Delivers an OpenSesame test course to your eduMe instance, which appears once the integration is enabled.
Step 2: eduMe enables the integration
Once eduMe receives your CIID, we'll enable the integration.
Typical setup time is 1–2 business days, although highly secure environments may take longer.
After setup is complete:
- eduMe will confirm the integration has been enabled.
- OpenSesame will arrange any required follow-up with you.
Step 3: Send courses from OpenSesame
Once the integration is active:
- Sign in to your OpenSesame administrator account.
- Go to My Lists.
- Open the list containing the courses you want to deliver.
- Select one or more licensed courses.
- Click Deliver Courses.
- Choose Send to Integration as the delivery method.
- Select eduMe as the destination.
- Click Deliver Courses to submit the courses for the next sync.
Note: If a course has multiple licence types, you'll be prompted to choose which licence to use before delivery.
After delivery, you'll receive a confirmation. You can review delivered courses at any time from the My Courses dashboard in OpenSesame.
Step 4: Find imported courses in eduMe
eduMe checks OpenSesame for new or updated content once per day.
To view imported courses:
- In eduMe, open Learning.
- Select the SCORM tab.
- Your imported OpenSesame courses will appear here.
We recommend testing imported courses before making them available to learners.
Automatic synchronisation
eduMe automatically synchronises OpenSesame content every day.
This includes:
- New courses
- Updated course metadata
- Course removals
- Retired publisher content
If a course is removed from OpenSesame or retired by its publisher, after the next sync:
- The course is automatically deactivated in eduMe.
- It no longer appears in search results.
- Learners can no longer launch the course.
Metadata that's synced
The following information is imported from OpenSesame:
- Course title
- Course description
- Duration
- Thumbnail image
- Languages
Metadata updates typically appear in eduMe within 24 hours.
Important notes
- This integration uses SCORM packages. Don't change the package type.
- Using multiple e-learning standards for the same learners may create duplicate learner records and affect reporting.
Reporting
Learner activity is available in both platforms:
- eduMe provides learner progress and completion reporting.
- OpenSesame provides activity reporting once learners begin launching OpenSesame courses.
