What is Mandatory Content?
With Mandatory Content you can now clearly signify to your learners that they should complete key content. By setting a course or guide as mandatory for a team you will;
- Set a due date
- Automatically create a mandatory section
- Generate automated reminders
This approach is proven to drive forward high completion rates and provide clearer signals to learners of what is expected of them.
How to set it up
-
Access admin panel (admin.edume.com)
-
Go to Learning tab
-
Select the course or guide you want to make Mandatory
-
Go to Visibility Tab
If you haven’t set teams visibility, choose the team(s) you want the content visible for
Select Mandatory settings

-
Choose the teams you want to make the content mandatory for
-
Select a relative or fixed due date
Relative due dates are set when a user is member of a team with Mandatory content, the due date rule starts from most recent of either;
- For existing team members; Start date = date mandatory set
- For users added to a team after mandatory has been set; Start date = date learner added to team
-
Click save to complete the flow
Learners will then see Mandatory Sections in their Knowledge Hubs when they have mandatory content due

Automated reminders
Once a course due date is set you can then enable automatic reminders which will send users a message (based on delivery preferences) 7 days before the due date and again 1 day before the due date.
- Go to Settings
- Click on Notifications
- Turn on Automatic reminders for mandatory content
