What is SCORM content in eduMe?
eduMe can host and deliver your existing SCORM packages alongside your other content. Each package runs exactly as it was built, your frontline opens it from the same place as the rest of their training, and completion data comes back into eduMe reporting.
SCORM content sits in its own SCORM tab, alongside Courses & Guides, In Person Assessments, Checklists, Live Sessions and Paths. Teams commonly use it for:
- Existing course libraries from a previous LMS
- Annual mandatory compliance training
- Off-the-shelf course catalogues
- Accredited certification and safety courses
- In-depth or technical courses
- Franchise or head-office training
For users, SCORM courses open in one tap with no separate LMS login. Progress is saved, so a long course doesn't need to be finished in one sitting.
💡 SCORM support is designed for reusing content you already have. eduMe doesn't author or edit SCORM packages, and for anything new, native eduMe content is the better experience for your frontline.
Best practice
To get the most out of SCORM content:
- Use SCORM for content that already exists and is expensive or impossible to change. Use native eduMe courses and guides for anything you're creating now.
- Make each package visible only to the teams it's relevant to. A curated handful of courses gets used; a library of hundreds doesn't.
- Test one package end to end and check its report before relying on it for compliance evidence.
- Rebuild high-value courses natively over time, where it's worth it.
Adding a SCORM package
SCORM package imports are not self-service. To import your existing SCORM packages, please reach out to your eduMe contact, who will help you with the process.
Setting visibility
SCORM packages use the same team-level visibility as courses, guides and paths, so you can target each package by role or location.
- Open the SCORM package and click the Visibility tab.
- By default, new content is visible to everyone in the group.
- To restrict visibility, click Make visible to specific teams, select the relevant team(s), and click Update visibility.
- To hide the package from everyone, click Make visible to no one.
How users access SCORM content
SCORM packages are published to hubs and reached the same way as your other content:
- From their Knowledge Hub
- Via a link shared in your comms tool
- Through SSO from your intranet
- By scanning a QR code
The course itself doesn't change, but your frontline can now open it on their phone in one tap, instead of finding a desktop and logging into a separate LMS.
Reporting on SCORM content
SCORM completions report into eduMe, so all your training data lands in one place. For each user, you can see:
- Completion status
- First access date
- Completion date
- Pass or fail
- Scores from within the package
💡 SCORM reporting doesn't look exactly like native course reporting. Each package reports what it was built to report, so two packages made in different authoring tools may report differently. Run one package end to end and check the report before relying on it for compliance evidence.
The OpenSesame integration
eduMe has partnered with OpenSesame, whose catalogue includes more than 50,000 courses from vetted publishers. The integration brings the courses you license into eduMe, so your frontline finds them in the same place as everything else.
OpenSesame works well for standardised topics like compliance basics, cyber security awareness, leadership and general safety. For training specific to your workflows, equipment and locations, use eduMe's own authoring.
Setting up OpenSesame
You'll need:
- An OpenSesame subscription. You license courses directly from OpenSesame, and eduMe delivers them.
- Your OpenSesame customer integration ID.
There's no connection fee, plug-in or extra subscription needed on the eduMe side. To get set up, contact your CSM with your integration ID and they'll link your account to your OpenSesame catalogue.
Keeping your catalogue up to date
Once connected, your licensed courses sync automatically every day, early each morning. The sync time is fixed and doesn't change with daylight saving.
Each course comes across with its title, description, thumbnail, duration, language information, and a link to the full course record on OpenSesame.
💡 Just licensed a new course? Ask your CSM to trigger an immediate sync instead of waiting for the overnight run.
Using SCORM with other features
Paths SCORM content can sit inside a Path alongside courses, guides, documents, checklists and In Person Assessments. For example, a compliance Path could include:
- A SCORM compliance module
- Native eduMe content showing how to apply it on the job
- A checklist or In Person Assessment to finish
This lets old and new content work together in one sequence.
Resource Hub If a SCORM course has supporting reference material, add the documents to Resource Hub. That way, your frontline can check a detail later without re-running a long module.
Checklists and In Person Assessments A SCORM completion shows the module was finished, not that someone can do the job. Where a course teaches a practical process, add a checklist or In Person Assessment to confirm it's being applied.
